Hydrology

On June 14, 1957, the river destroyed numerous dams and bridges in a storm. Many people died in the process. A mean flow rate of 900 m³ / s was measured at Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne. During another storm on September 24, 1993, 400 to 500 m³ / s was measured at the same location.
