Nivolas-Vermelle is a French commune with 2,649 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Isère in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . Nivolas-Vermelle is part of the La Tour-du-Pin arrondissement and the Bourgoin-Jallieu canton (until 2015: Bourgoin-Jallieu-Sud canton ). The inhabitants call themselves Nivolésien (ne) s .
geography
Nivolas-Vermelle is located on the small river Agny , which flows into the Bourbre on the northern edge of the municipality . Nivolas-Vermelle is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Ruy in the north and northeast, Sérézin-de-la-Tour in the east, Succieu in the southeast, Les Ésparres in the south and southwest, Meyrié in the west and Bourgoin-Jallieu in the northwest.
The former route nationale 85 (today's D1085) runs through the municipality .

In 1882 the previously independent municipalities of Nivolas and Vermelle were merged.
