Romagnieu is a French commune with 1,580 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Isère department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region . It belongs administratively to the Arrondissement La Tour-du-Pin and is part of the canton Chartreuse-Guiers (until 2015: canton Le Pont-de-Beauvoisin ).

geography

Romagnieu is about 23 kilometers west of Chambéry . The Guiers runs on the northern and northeastern border of the municipality, the Bièvre in the west. Romagnieu is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Aoste in the north and north-west, Saint-Genix-les-Villages with Saint-Genix-sur-Guiers in the north and north-east, Belmont-Tramonet in the east, Domessin in the south-east, Le Pont-de-Beauvoisin in the south , Pressins in the south and south-west, Les Abrets in the south-west and Chimilin in the west.

The A43 autoroute runs through the municipality .
