The Guiers (in the upper reaches: Guiers Mort ) is a river in France that runs in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region . Its source is located in the Chartreuse Mountains in the Chartreuse Regional Nature Park . It rises as Guiers Mort in the municipality of Saint-Pierre-de-Chartreuse and generally drains in a north-westerly direction. At the place Entre-deux-Guiers it unites with its tributary Guiers Vif and from there changes its name to Guiers. It forms the border between the Isère and Savoie departments for a long stretch and finally flows into the Rhône as a left tributary after 50 kilometers near the town of Saint-Didier in the municipality of Aoste .
