Frontonas is a commune with 2,069 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Isère in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . Frontonas is located in the arrondissement of La Tour-du-Pin and in the canton of La Verpillière (until 2015: canton Crémieu ). The inhabitants are called Frontonois .

Frontonas is about 25 kilometers east-southeast of Lyon . Frontonas is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Chamagnieu in the north and north-west, Panossas in the north and north-east, Saint-Marcel-Bel-Accueil in the east, L'Isle-d'Abeau in the south-east, Vaulx-Milieu in the south, Villefontaine in the south and south-west, La Verpillière to the west and south-west and Saint-Quentin-Fallavier to the west.
