The Velyka Lepetycha Raion (Ukrainian Великолепетиський район / Welykolepetyskyj rajon ; Russian Великолепетихский район / Velikolepetichski rajon ) is a district in the south of the Kherson Oblast . The central place of the Rajons is the eponymous urban-type settlement Welyka Lepetycha .
history
The Raion was founded in 1923 as part of the Ukrainian SSR , in 1930 the Raion area was expanded to include the area of the dissolved Verkhniy Rohachyk Raion , after the occupation by German troops, the Raion area was incorporated into the Reichskommissariat Ukraine in 1942 and was located in the general district of Dnjepropetrovsk , district of Kamenka / Dnieper . After the end of the German occupation, the area came back to the Soviet Union / Ukrainian SSR and was integrated into the newly created Oblast Kherson in 1944, since 1991 it has been part of today's Ukraine.
geography
The Rajon is located in the north of the Kherson Oblast in the Black Sea lowlands and is very flat, with altitudes between 40 and 80 meters. In the northwest of the Rajon the Kachowka reservoir limits the area. It borders in the north and northeast on the Verkhny Rohachyk Raion , in the southeast on the Nyschni Sirohosy Raion , in the south on the Hornostayivka Raion , in the southwest on the Beryslav Raion and in the northwest on the Nowoworonzowka Raion .
