Velyka Lepetycha ( Ukrainian Велика Лепетиха ; Russian Великая Лепетиха Velikaya Lepeticha ) is an urban-type settlement in the north of the Ukrainian Oblast of Kherson with 8,300 inhabitants (2017).
geography
Welyka Lepetycha is located on the left bank of the Dnepr , which is dammed up to the Kachowka reservoir , 153 km northeast of the oblast capital Kherson and 75 km northeast of Nowa Kachowka . The nearest train station is in Sirohosy (Ukrainian Сірогози ) 51 km away .
history
The settlement, founded in 1792, has been the center of the Rajon since 1923 . It was occupied by Wehrmacht troops from September 16, 1941 to February 8, 1944 and has had the status of an urban-type settlement since 1956.
