Tawrijsk ( Ukrainian Таврійськ ; Russian Таврийск Tawrisk ) is a city in the southern Ukrainian Oblast of Kherson on the right bank of the Dnieper River . The city with 10,800 inhabitants (2016) is located between the neighboring city of Nowa Kachowka in the east and the neighboring village of Malokachowka to the north , 10 kilometers southwest of Kachowka and 64 kilometers northeast of the oblast capital Kherson . The settlement Plodowe ( Плодове ), which is located south of the city, also belongs to the municipality . Regional road P-47 runs through Tavrijsk .
The city emerged as a settlement and part of Nowa Kachowka on the Kachowka reservoir and is located at the mouth of the North Crimean Canal in the reservoir. On March 2, 1983, it was spun off from Nowa Kachowka and founded as an independent town.
