The Gindre Group is a French group of companies in the copper industry with headquarters in Pont-de-Chéruy and is one of the largest European manufacturers of semi-finished copper products (rods, profiles) as well as copper-based components and parts for the electrical industry. The group was created around the Lyon- based company Gindre Duchavany SA and now has around 500 employees in subsidiaries and partner companies (as of 2016).
history
The company, founded by Charles Marie Duchavany in Lyon in 1823 , began with the refinement of fashion clothing for men's outfitting stores as well as the manufacture of church outfitting accessories. Mainly copper, brass , gold and silver threads were manufactured for this purpose . Soon after, Duchavany's son-in-law, Joannès Gindre , joined the company as co-owner. Thanks to electrification , the company has specialized in the production of copper cables for many years.
In 1986, Gindre Composants was founded for the production of electronic components. With the establishment of Gindre LLC (current legal form Inc .; based in Greenwood , South Carolina , United States ) in 1998, the products could also be sold on the US market, in Canada and Mexico . With the takeover of Lacroix & Kress , Kupferrheydt GmbH was founded in Mönchengladbach in 2000 . In 2009 a sales office was opened in Moscow and Gindre india Components was established in Manesar ( Haryana ) for production and logistics on the Indian market . Kupferrheydt was a former Alcatel subsidiary and today produces insulated and flexible busbars under the MaxiFlex ® brand . In 2002, the largest British copper production company Metelec , based in Walsall, was acquired, which has since acted for the distribution of copper components and semi-finished products in the United Kingdom. In 2006, Gindre Torns SL , based in Barcelona, was founded in Spain for production and logistics there . In June 2007 Gindre Duchavany was integrated into the Austrian A-Tec Industries group. In 2006 the company achieved sales of over 300 million euros with 450 employees. Production facilities are located in France, Germany, Great Britain, Spain and the USA. In June 2010, Gindre kompachent sro was founded in the Czech municipality of Krompach .
In 2012 the Gindre Group and the Montanwerke Brixlegg, which had emerged from the smelting works in Brixlegg , were taken over by the Vienna- based UMCOR Holding GmbH of the Swiss raw materials company UMCOR . Earthmet Ltd , which specializes in natural resources, was founded in the UK in 2014 . In 2015, the Gindre Group was taken over by the Swiss Alpine Group , which emerged from Vikuna AG in 2013 and whose history dates back to the company Kämp & Brutsche, founded in Naters in 1965 .
Today, Gindre has around 500 employees with its subsidiaries and partner companies.
