Virieu (also: Virieu-sur-Bourbre ) is a town and commune Déléguée in the French commune of Val-de-virieu with 1,093 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Isère in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes .
On January 1, 2019, the municipality of Virieu merged with Panissage to form the Commune nouvelle Val-de-Virieu. It belonged to the arrondissement of La Tour-du-Pin and was part of the canton of Le Grand-Lemps (until 2015: canton of Virieu ).
geography
Virieu is located about 58 kilometers east-southeast of Lyon . The Commune déléguée is located on the Bourbre , which borders the Commune déléguée in the north and northwest. The municipality of Virieu was surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Panissage in the north and north-west, Chélieu in the north, Valencogne in the north-east, Le Pin in the east, Oyeu in the south, Burcin in the south and south-west, Châbons in the south-west and Blandin in the west.
