Before starting his poker career, Velador worked as a tiler . He is the father of five children, including his son Luis Jr., who has cashed in the World Series of Poker several times . Velador lives in Corona , California .

Career
Velador has been playing poker professionally since 1997 . Since 2000 he has been taking part in renowned live tournaments .
After many small wins, Velador was successful for the first time in June 2006 at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and placed twice in the money, including a. he finished 392nd place in the main event . Two years later won a tournament Velador the variant No-Limit Hold'em and his first bracelet , and around 575,000 US dollars prize money. In mid-July 2008 he cashed for the first time at the Main Event of the World Poker Tour and finished 81st in the Bellagio Cup at the Hotel Bellagio in Las Vegas for just under 20,000 US dollars.
