José-Luis Velador (also José Luis Velador ; * 1964 in Jalisco ) is a professional Mexican - American poker player .

Before starting his poker career, Velador worked as a tiler . He is the father of five children, including his son Luis Jr., who has cashed in the World Series of Poker several times . Velador lives in Corona , California .

Poker career

Career

Velador has been playing poker professionally since 1997 . Since 2000 he has been taking part in renowned live tournaments .

After many small wins, Velador was successful for the first time in June 2006 at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and placed twice in the money, including a. he finished 392nd place in the main event . Two years later won a tournament Velador the variant No-Limit Hold'em and his first bracelet , and around 575,000 US dollars prize money.
