Jason Koon (born August 14, 1985 in Weston , West Virginia ) is a professional American poker player .

Koon is considered to be one of the best tournament players in the world. He has earned more than US $ 31 million playing poker in live tournaments , making him the ninth most successful poker player in terms of tournament prize money . Of that, he won over $ 12 million in the Triton Super High Roller Series , making him one of the series' most successful players .

Personal

Koon graduated from Lewis County High School in his native Weston in 2003 and then attended West Virginia Wesleyan College in Buckhannon . There he did a Master of Business Administration in finance . Koon lives in Vancouver .

Poker career

Career

Koon started playing poker in college in 2006. He plays online under the nicknames JAKoon1985 ( PokerStars ) and NovaSky ( Full Tilt Poker ) . On PokerStars , he won a Spring Championship of Online Poker tournament in April 2009 with a prize of over US $ 300,000 . Koon is sponsored by partypoker and plays on their platform as Jason_Koon . Since 2008 he has also been participating in renowned live tournaments .

Koon was in June 2009 for the first time at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas successful and occurred in two tournaments of the variant No-Limit Hold 'em the money. In mid-October 2010 he reached the final table at the main event of the World Poker Tour at the Hotel Bellagio in Las Vegas and finished the tournament in fourth place for around 225,000 US dollars in prize money.
