Steffen Christian Sontheimer (born September 13, 1990 in Gernsbach ) is a professional German poker player .

Sontheimer has earned more than 13.5 million US dollars with poker in live tournaments , making him one of the most successful German poker players . His greatest successes to date are winning the Purple Jacket ™ at the Poker Masters 2017 in Las Vegas and winning the Super High Roller Championship in the Bahamas in 2018.

Personal

Sontheimer skipped a class in elementary school and then attended the Albert Schweitzer High School in Gernsbach . He played table tennis and soccer in Gernsbach club teams . While doing community service , a club mate introduced him to poker websites. Sontheimer studied industrial engineering at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology . He wrote his bachelor thesis on Behavioral Economics in Poker - An Investigation of Investment Decisions in No Limit Texas Hold'em . He then lived for a time with the poker players Benjamin Rolle and Rainer Kempe in Brighton and moved to Vienna in early 2017 . In July 2018 he founded along with several other poker players like Fedor wood and Stefan Schill Habel an e-sports team called No Limit Gaming .

Sontheimer is nicknamed "Goose" ( German : Gans ) and plays online under the nickname Go0se.core! ( PokerStars ) , Partygo0se ( partypoker ) and NaturalGo0se ( Natural8 ) . Since 2015 Sontheimer has also been participating in renowned live tournaments .

In June 2015 Sontheimer was the first time in the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas successful and died in a tournament variant No-Limit Hold'em the money. In mid-April 2016, Sontheimer took eighth place at the high roller event of the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown in Hollywood , Florida , for $ 70,500 in prize money. At the main event of the Triton Super High Roller Series in Budva , Montenegro , Sontheimer took sixth place for over 300,000 US dollars in July 2017. At the end of July 2017 he won the super high roller event of the European Poker Championship in Velden am Wörther See with a prize of 430,000 euros. In mid-September 2017, Sontheimer was in Las Vegas for the first ever Poker Masters . There he made the money in four of the five tournaments with buy-ins of at least $ 50,000 and won the second and fifth events . With prize money of 2.7 million dollars he collected in the Tournament as much money as any other player and received for this performance, the Poker Masters Purple Jacket ™ , a purple jacket . At the beginning of November 2017, Sontheimer took fifth place in the € 111,111 High Roller for One Drop of the World Series of Poker Europe at King's Resort in Rozvadov for more than € 800,000 in prize money. At the end of April 2018, he finished third in a one-day € 50k high roller on the European Poker Tour in Monte-Carlo for around 300,000 euros. Two weeks later, he finished fifth at the Triton Series Main Event in Budva for the equivalent of just under 500,000 US dollars. In mid-November 2018, Sontheimer won the Super High Roller Championship of the partypoker Caribbean Poker Party in Nassau in the Bahamas and secured his highest prize money to date of more than 3.5 million US dollars.
