Shannon Shorr (born June 7, 1985 in Birmingham , Alabama ) is a professional American poker player .

Personal

Shorr played baseball in high school but gave up the sport when he began his studies at the University of Alabama at Birmingham . There he completed a degree in business administration in 2010 . In August 2014 ascended Shorr in Tanzania the summit of Kilimanjaro . He lives in Las Vegas .

Poker career

Shorr plays online under the nicknames basebal1b ( PokerStars ) , aulophobia (WSOP.com) and BLUFFforRENT ( Full Tilt Poker and UltimateBet ) . Since 2006 he has been taking part in renowned live tournaments .

His first live tournament cash placement came in mid-January 2006 at the main event of the Aussie Millions Poker Championship in Melbourne for Shorr, who at that time was 20 years old and not yet legally allowed to play in the United States . There he reached the final table and finished in fourth place, worth more than 270,000 Australian dollars . In July 2006 Shorr was successful for the first time at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and came in the money in three tournaments of the variant No Limit Hold'em . At the end of July 2006, he won a tournament at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas with a prize money of around 125,000 US dollars . At the same point, Shorr won another event in August 2006, for which he received his highest prize money to date of more than 960,000 US dollars. He reached his first WSOP final table in early June 2008 and finished second in an event for just under $ 350,000. A month later, Shorr finished first and third in tournaments at the Bellagio Hotel within four days, securing prize money of over $ 370,000. In April 2009 he sat at the final table of the Five Star World Poker Classic, also played at the Bellagio, and finished fifth in the main event of the World Poker Tour (WPT), which was paid for with over 400,000 US dollars. At the end of January 2011, Shorr reached the final table of the WPT main event again and came fourth in Biloxi for just under 150,000 US dollars. At the 2012 WSOP , he finished third in a tournament in Six Handed No Limit Hold'em for more than $ 450,000 in prize money. In mid-January 2013 Shorr won a PokerStars Caribbean Adventures tournament in the Bahamas and received a bonus of around 160,000 US dollars after a deal with three other players. In February 2014, he finished second at the WPT Main Event in Coconut Creek after losing heads-up to James Calderaro for just under 200,000 US dollars. At the WSOP 2018 , Shorr reached the sixth day of the tournament in the main event , where he was eliminated in 39th place, worth around 190,000 US dollars. In March 2019, he finished second in the WPT Main Event in Los Angeles and received more than $ 350,000 in prize money. At the 2019 WSOP , Shorr finished second in a Hold'em event for more than $ 270,000.

In total, Shorr has earned more than $ 8 million in poker in live tournaments.
