David Printz (born July 24, 1980 in Solna ) is a former Swedish ice hockey player .

Career

David Printz began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth division of the AIK Solna , where he was active until 2000. Then the defender spent a season in the North American junior league America West Hockey League , in which he played for the Great Falls Americans. For the 2001/02 season he returned to Solna, for whose professional team he made his debut in the Elitserien . In his rookie year , he scored three goals in 37 games and made two assists. At the end of the season AIK was relegated to the second-rate HockeyAllsvenskan and the left-handed shooter switched to the Finnish SM-liiga , in which he was on the ice for the HPK Hämeenlinna and Ilves Tampere in the 2002/03 season.

After another season at AIK in the HockeyAllsvenskan, Printz was ordered to North America by the Philadelphia Flyers in the summer of 2004 . This had already selected him in the NHL Entry Draft 2001 in the seventh round as a total of 225th player. In his three years in the Flyers franchise , however, he was used almost exclusively for their farm team from the American Hockey League , the Philadelphia Phantoms . He was also on the ice in two games for the Trenton Titans from the ECHL . Between 2005 and 2007, the Swede played a total of 13 games in the National Hockey League for the Flyers, in which he remained pointless and received four penalty minutes.

From the 2007/08 season Printz played in his Swedish homeland for Djurgårdens IF in the Elitserien and became Swedish runner-up with this 2010. At the end of May 2012 he was signed by the new KHL participant HC Slovan Bratislava , but only completed one KHL game for Slovan because he could not prevail within the team. Therefore, his contract was terminated in mid-October 2012.

From 2013 to 2016 Printz played for the Nürnberg Ice Tigers in the German Ice Hockey League , then for two years at Karlskrona HK . At the beginning of the 2018/19 season he was under contract with Timrå IK before he switched to Frölunda HC on loan in January 2019 . With Frölunda he won the Champions Hockey League and the Swedish championship in 2019 in 2019 and 2020 .

In 2020 he ended his career and became a junior coach at Djurgårdens IF.
