Helena Henschen , (born March 21, 1940 in Solna ; † January 27, 2011 ) was a Swedish designer and writer .

Life

Helena Henschen was the daughter of Anders Henschen and Marianne von Sydow . She completed her textile training at the Swedish Art School Konstfack and was one of the founders of the Swedish fashion label Mah-Jong . As a writer, she has worked for the Swedish magazines Moderna tider and Marxistiskt Forum (magazine of the Swedish Communist Party SKP) as well as for the Stockholm City Museum . She has also written and illustrated children's books .

Henschen's literary debut was in 2004 with the novel I skuggan av ett brott , German In the shadow of a crime: the Sydow murders ; it is about the murders in her mother's family on March 7, 1932. In 2009 she received the European Union's Literature Prize for this novel . In autumn 2008 Hon älskade (literally: “She loved”) came out, a biographical novel about Helena Henschen's grandmother Signe Thiel , daughter of the banker and patron of the arts Ernest Thiel , s. also Thielska galleriet .

Her first marriage was to the architect Peter B. Larsson (son: Jesper Bergom Larsson, * 1961, actor, producer and screenwriter), her second marriage to the artist Håkan Nyberg (daughter: Saskia Lagerbielke, née Nyberg), in third marriage to the writer and politician Gunnar Ohrlander (twins Kristina and Jenny Henschen).

In 2011 Helena Henschen succumbed to a cerebral hemorrhage .
