Edsviken is an elongated and narrow branch of the Baltic Sea in the Swedish municipalities of Solna , Sollentuna and Danderyd near Stockholm . The Edsviken is approx. 7.7 km long, has an area of approx. 3.6 square kilometers and a maximum depth of approx. 20 meters.
Edsviken is a brackish lake with unique conditions for flora and fauna . Here grow u. a. the common beach ledges and the swamp forget-me-not, which is very rare in Sweden . The bird life is also unusual; the oystercatcher , a typical coastal bird, and the barnacle goose live here . In Edsviken there is also a rich fish population consisting of perch , bream , pike , ruff , pikeperch and sometimes Atlantic herring .
At the northern end of Edsviken is Edsberg Castle (Edsbergs slott) and further south is Ulriksdal Castle (Ulriksdals slott). The south-western part of Edsviken belongs to the Ekoparken National City Park .
