Max von Schlebrügge (born February 1, 1977 in Solna ) is a Swedish football player .

Von Schlebrügge played at AIK Solna as a child . At that time his name was still Max Holmström. In March 2000 he took the surname of his grandmother, a daughter of Friedrich Karl Johannes von Schlebrügge. It was the last in Sweden to bear the name of the German noble family. He is the great-nephew of American actress Uma Thurman , who comes from the same family on her mother's side .

His first competitive game for the AIK AIK team was played by von Schlebrügge on January 21, 1996 against Alvsjö . In the same year he left his home country to play for the Florida Atlantic University soccer team until 1998 . At the age of 21, he signed a contract with third division club IF Brommapojkarna in 1998 .

In 2001 the traditional Stockholm club Hammarby IF brought him into its ranks. Since then he has played alternately in central defense or as a left defender. His greatest success in the club was the participation in the qualifying round for the Champions League 2002. Because of his achievements he was used for the first time in November 2003 in an international match of the Swedish national soccer team. He has now played eight international matches (without scoring) (as of April 22, 2008) .

In January 2007 von Schlebrügge signed a contract with RSC Anderlecht until the summer of 2010. In 2007 he became Belgian football champions with the club. From 2008 to 2012 he played with Brøndby IF and since 2012 again with Hammarby IF.

Play style

Max von Schlebrügge prefers a quick game. The left-footed player often interferes in his team's attacking game and is an accomplished header player .
