Fotbollsallsvenskan 1957/58

The 1959 Fotbollsallsvenskan was the 35th season of the top Swedish football league . It began on April 19, 1959 and ended on October 11, 1959 with the 22nd game day.

In 1959, the Swedish championship in the Allsvenskan was played for the first time within the calendar year. Not least because of the great success of the Swedish national team at the 1958 World Cup in their own country, when the runner-up title jumped out, the league achieved the best result in league history with an average attendance of 13,369. The 52,194 spectators at last year's champions IFK Göteborg's game against Örgryte IS on June 3, 1959 also represent a league record .

On the last day of the match there was a duel between the top two. Djurgårdens IF achieved a 1-1 draw against pursuers IFK Göteborg and became national champions for the sixth time in the club's history. Since the European Cup season began at the end of August, the leader of the first half of the season (IFK Göteborg) was registered for the 1959/60 European Cup . Halmstads BK and GAIS Göteborg had to go to the second-class Division 2 .
