The Fotbollsallsvenskan 1989 was the 65th season of the top Swedish football league . The regular season was played between April 1 and October 8, 1989, after which the Swedish championship was played in a final round up to November 15.

IFK Norrköping was able to prevail in the finals against previous year's champions Malmö FF , although only second place behind the competitor had been occupied in regular time. The club from Östergötland achieved the twelfth championship title in the club's history. At the bottom of the table, GIF Sundsvall and Västra Frölunda IF occupied the relegation places.
