Erik Sundin (born March 1, 1979 in Stockholm ) is a Swedish football player . The midfielder , who won the Svenska Cup with Helsingborgs IF in 2010 , has played over 200 games in the Swedish professional leagues Allsvenskan and Superettan in his career to date .

Career

Sundin began playing soccer with multiple champions AIK in 1985 . There he went through the various youth teams, but could not recommend himself for the men's team. Therefore, he left the club in 1998 in the direction of Enebybergs IF . With the club he was relegated at the end of the year from the third-class division 2 Västra Svealand .

After a year in the fourth division, Sundin moved to FC Café Opera in the Superettan before the second division season in 2000 . After he was initially a substitute player and was only used irregularly, he established himself from the 2002 season in the club's midfield and scored seven goals in 26 games this season. Since the club was also AIK's farm team , it was used there in parallel in cup games and in the reserve team. Even after the merger of Café Opera with Väsby IK to Väsby United , he initially remained loyal to the club in the second division.

In early 2006 Sundin moved within the Superettan to Assyriska Föreningen , where he scored six goals in 27 games during the year. With the club he occupied a relegation place at the end of the 2006 season and had to relegate the third division after two draws against Bunkeflo IF due to the away goals rule . He then changed clubs again and joined Trelleborgs FF in Allsvenskan, where he signed a two-year contract. As in his previous station, he immediately established himself as a regular player. With the club he found himself in a relegation battle, with four goals in 25 games of the season he contributed to reaching the penultimate place in the table and thus relegation.

After his contract expired, Sundin was without a club from November 2008. Helsingborgs IF announced the midfielder's signing in December . At the southern Swedish club, he signed a two-year contract with the option of one-year extension. At his new club, he could not establish himself permanently in the regular formation. In the summer he was still a regular player, who drew attention to himself with two goals in qualifying for the 2009/10 Europa League before the club was eliminated by FK Sarajevo , he was mainly used as a substitute in the autumn. In the 2010 season he established himself again in the club's attack line and distinguished himself as a regular goalscorer with eight goals this season. While the team had a duel with Malmö FF for the championship title, which was ultimately decided in favor of the competitor, they also moved into the final of the Svenska Cup . At the side of Alexander Gerndt , Christoffer Andersson and Erik Edman , he won the title against second division club Hammarby IF , as Rasmus Jönsson scored the decisive goal in the 80th minute to make it 1-0. In March of the following year there was another duel with Malmö FF in the Supercup , which he decided with a goal shortly before the end to the 2-1 final score for his club and the first success of a cup winner in this competition.
