history
Hellas Jet was founded in 2002 as a subsidiary of Cyprus Airways as a public company. Her first flight took off from Athens on June 24, 2003. In the first year it transported around 250,000 passengers on 3855 flights (ø 64.85 passengers per flight).
After heavy losses, Hellas Jet temporarily suspended all flights on May 10, 2005 and announced in January 2006 that it would concentrate on the charter business. In August 2006 Cyprus Airways sold its shares in Air Miles with the aim of resuming flight operations with the Airbus A320-200 in wet lease .
According to several sources, the company finally ceased operations between 2009 and 2010, and the remaining aircraft were returned to the lessor. An A320-211 was written off and scrapped after a fire at Brussels-Zaventem Airport (see section Incidents).
