Hellenic Imperial Airways was a Greek airline based in Athens and based at Athens-Eleftherios Venizelos Airport .
history
The company was founded at the end of 2006 as the successor to Air Universal based in Amman ( Jordan ) . Initially, the company's machines were only used in charter traffic, with destinations in Germany already being served. Since then, some scheduled flights have also been offered.
In 2010 the company was named the best European charter company of the year by the British Institute for Transport Management .
During the civil war in Libya in 2011, the company took over the evacuation of 3,000 Chinese citizens who were flown from Tripoli to Bangkok , Shanghai , Beijing and Hanoi .
The aircraft had been parked since around mid-2012, and the company's continued existence was unclear for a long time. In the meantime, the cessation of operations is considered to be secured.
Destinations
In addition to charter flights , Hellenic Imperial Airways recently also offered some scheduled connections to the Middle East and New York City .
