Air Universal was a Jordanian charter airline registered in Sierra Leone , West Africa .
history
The airline Air Universal was founded in 2002 by the British citizen Paddy McKay together with Jordanian business partners. Her home airport was Queen Alia International Airport near Amman in Jordan . Operations started with an Air Operator Certificate (AOC) from the State of Sierra Leone . The founder Paddy McKay was also involved in the airlines Air Leone , Star Air and Teebah Airlines , which were also registered in Sierra Leone. Following allegations of money laundering and drug trafficking against the company in 2004, the Sierra Leone government revoked the company in September 2004. The activities were briefly relocated to Damascus in Syria in the same year . In 2005 it was planned to relocate the company headquarters to Cyprus and to continue operations with a Cypriot AOC. These plans were not implemented. Instead, the parties involved founded the Greek airline Hellenic Imperial Airways in 2006 , to which three Air Universal Boeing 747s were transferred. At the same time, Air Universal closed its own operations. It remained as a shell company until 2017 .
fleet
As of 2006, Air Universal had seven aircraft. Two more were to be added to the fleet in the same year.
