Air Arabia Jordan (originally Petra Airlines ) was a Jordanian low-cost airline based in Amman and based at Queen Alia International Airport . It was a subsidiary of Air Arabia . It ceased flight operations at the beginning of April 2018.

history

Air Arabia Jordan was founded in 2005 as Petra Airlines and started operations in 2010 as a charter airline with an Airbus A320-200 . In January 2015 Air Arabia took over 49% of Petra Airlines, the name was then changed to Air Arabia Jordan, which is to start regular scheduled flights as a low-cost airline in North Africa and Europe with two A320-200s . Petra Airlines was interesting for Air Arabia because Jordan has an Open Skies agreement with the European Union .
