HeavyLift Cargo Airlines was an Australian cargo airline headquartered in Sydney and based at Brisbane Airport .

history

The Heavy Lift Cargo Airlines Pty Ltd. was founded on October 21, 2002 as a subsidiary of the HeavyLift Cargo Group to operate international cargo charter flights from Brisbane to Papua New Guinea , the Solomon Islands and Vanuatu . Flight operations began in early 2004 with a Boeing 727-100 and a Short Belfast , which at that time were still registered with the Sierra Leone- based sister company HeavyLift Cargo Sierra Leone . Both aircraft then, like almost all other aircraft operated by the Australian HeavyLift Cargo Airlines , received Filipino aircraft registration numbers .

The company acquired the Australian airline OzJet in 2008 , which it sold to Strategic Airlines just a year later . In August 2012, the Australian Ministry of Transport withdrew HeavyLift Cargo Airlines ' approval for international cargo flights to Papua New Guinea. The company then mainly carried out cargo charter services to the Solomon Islands, mainly transporting tuna on the return flight . The company was dissolved on March 21, 2014.
