Eastern Australia Airlines Pty. Ltd. is an Australian regional airline based in Sydney and based at Kingsford Smith International Airport . It is a subsidiary of Qantas Airways and part of the QantasLink brand .

history

Eastern Australia Airlines was founded in Tamworth in 1949 as Tamworth Air Taxi Service and consisted of a machine and a pilot at the start of the flight. Shortly thereafter renamed Tamair , it served small towns and farms in New South Wales and Queensland .

After 36 years of expansion and through mergers with several smaller companies, the name was changed to Eastern Australia Airlines in 1987 . In 1988 Australian Airlines acquired 26% of the company from its parent company, East-West Airlines . In 1991, Eastern Australia Airlines was fully acquired by Australien Airlines. In 1992, Qantas again bought Australian Airlines.

In 2002, Qantas merged its Mildura- based subsidiary Southern Australia Airlines with Eastern Australia Airlines under their name. Today it flies with other regional airlines exclusively under the QantasLink brand .
