Virgin Australia International (previously V Australia ) is an Australian airline based in Sydney and based at Kingsford Smith International Airport . It is a subsidiary of Virgin Australia Holdings Ltd. and a sister company of Virgin Australia Airlines . The Virgin Group holds 8.7% of Virgin Australia Holdings.

history

The airline was founded under the name V Australia in 2007 as a subsidiary of Virgin Blue and began operations in February 2009 on the route from Sydney to Los Angeles . At the end of 2011 it was transferred to Virgin Australia as part of the restructuring of Virgin Blue and changed its name to Virgin Australia International . The flight routes and codeshare agreements as well as the fleet were retained during the restructuring.

Destinations

Virgin Australia International focuses on long haul flights and serves Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane from Los Angeles and Abu Dhabi .
