Brindabella Airlines Pty Ltd was a QantasLink affiliated Australian regional airline with headquarters in Canberra and its home base at Canberra Airport . In December 2013 it had to cease operations.

history

Brindabella was founded in 1994 as a business charter and rental airline and began operating in the same year. In addition, the company ran an aircraft maintenance operation. In 2000 the offer was expanded to include a flight school and in April 2003 regional scheduled flight operations began. The company is wholly owned by Lara Corry-Boyd and Jeffrey Boid. Brindabella received several awards from tourism associations and for innovative business ideas in 2005 and 2006.

In December 2007 Bindabella received two BAe Jetstream 41s , which have been in service since May 5, 2008 on the routes Newcastle - Port Macquarie , Coffs Harbor - Brisbane and Newcastle-Canberra. Through an agreement with the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA), Brindabella was assigned the ICAO code BRI, as Brindabella did not have an official ICAO code .

In 2011 it was announced that Brinabella was planning to merge with Aeropelican Air Services . On June 24, 2013, Aeropelican Air Services continued operations under the name of Brindabella and the fleet was repainted.

In December 2013, the company ceased operations until further notice and went into bankruptcy administration after the Australian air traffic control authority CASA shut down the company's fleet due to overdue maintenance work. In the previous month, four aircraft had to be temporarily withdrawn from service for the same reason, whereupon Qantas suspended its cooperation agreement with Brindabella.
