Pacific Blue Airlines was a New Zealand based airline based in Christchurch and a subsidiary of the Australian Virgin Blue Airlines .
history
Pacific Blue was founded in 2003 and started its flight operations in January 2004 with the connection from Christchurch to Brisbane . Pacific Blue also flew from Wellington to Sydney for three months ; this connection was then canceled again for the connection to Brisbane. In August 2007, Pacific Blue began operating domestic routes in New Zealand. The first connections were Auckland – Wellington, Auckland – Christchurch and Christchurch – Wellington. Pacific Blue Dunedin was the only low cost domestic airline in New Zealand, Australia and the Pacific Islands after the liquidation of Freedom Air . In December 2011, Pacific Blue was merged into Virgin Australia as a New Zealand subsidiary as part of a restructuring of the umbrella brand .

Pacific Blue connected numerous major cities in Australia and New Zealand, such as Melbourne, Sydney, Auckland and Wellington. In addition, some South Pacific islands such as Fiji and Vanuatu are served. If necessary, she also flies for Polynesian Blue .
