Freedom Air was a low-cost airline of the Air New Zealand Group based in Auckland , New Zealand .

It was founded in 1995 and in addition to New Zealand also served Australia and the Fiji Islands . The machines belonged to the Air New Zealand subsidiary Zeal 320 and were also operated by this.

Their main base was Hamilton Airport . There were other scheduled flights from Auckland , Palmerston North, Wellington , Christchurch and Dunedin . The destinations were Nadi (Fiji), Gold Coast , Brisbane , Sydney and Melbourne .

The company recently operated twelve Airbus A320-232 aircraft .

Operations ceased on March 31, 2008 and the flights were taken over by the parent company Air New Zealand.
