UTair Sierra Leone was an airline of Sierra Leone , headquartered in Freetown . It was a subsidiary of the Russian UTair .
UTair mainly carried out supply flights within the framework of missions of the United Nations ( United Nations Mission in Sierra Leone ) in Sierra Leone during the post-war period around the turn of the millennium. Commercial flights were also launched in 2007. Four Mi-8 MTV-1 were operated.
Incidents
On June 29, 2004, a Mi-8 MTV-1 of the UTAir ( aircraft registration RА-2711 ) crashed on the way from Freetown to Yengema eight kilometers from its destination. All 24 people on board were killed.
