Sierra National Airlines , formerly Sierra Leone Airways (1958–1983) and Sierra Leone Airlines (1983–1987), was the national airline and flag carrier of Sierra Leone , based in Freetown and based at Freetown International Airport .
history
In 1987 the state-owned airlines of Sierra Leone stopped operating again. On May 1, 1990, operations and the name Sierra National Airlines were resumed, but stopped again and again in the following years due to the civil war. Between 2004 and 2005 there were regular flights to Gatwick Airport near London .
In October 2004 there were talks between Gold Coast Aviation (Pty) Ltd from South Africa . The plans to maintain regular connections to Monrovia , Accra , Abidjan , Conakry , Banjul and Johannesburg as well as to London and Dubai were not implemented.
Active flight operations were discontinued at the end of 2005 and only ground handling for other airlines was taken over.
