Jesper Jansson (born January 8, 1971 in Växjö ) is a Swedish former football player . The defender played an international match for the Swedish national team in 1994 and is now a sports official.

Career

Playing career in Sweden, Norway and Belgium

Jansson started playing football on Braås GoIF in the mid-1970s . In 1987 he moved to the youth department of Östers IF , for which he made his adult debut the following year. In 1989 he rose with the team to the Allsvenskan . After he had been used several times in junior national teams, he was part of the squad at the 1992 Olympic Games . After two short appearances in the group phase as a substitute, he was used by selection coach Nils Andersson in the quarter-finals against Australia in the starting line-up, but the game was lost due to a goal by Mark Bosnich in stoppage time. By the end of 1993 he played 70 first division games for his club. Due to his good performance, he had recommended himself for the multiple national champion AIK , to which he switched before the 1994 season, as well as for the national team. So he came in February 1994 before the season started his international debut when the Swedish selection in Miami , the national team of the United States with goals from Henrik Larsson , Kennet Andersson and mats lilienberg with a 3: 1 defeat success.

At his new club Jansson became a regular player, so that he was promoted to team captain before his second season . However, the 1995 season was overshadowed by injuries for him, only nine stakes were recorded for him. Then he got into an argument with the club. While this was based on a two-year contract and therefore sorted it out, the player had assumed a four-year contract, in which the conditions should be renegotiated after two years. He then agreed a move to arch rivals Djurgårdens IF , with whom he was relegated directly from Allsvenskan.

As a result, Jansson tried abroad. First he was under contract with the Norwegian club Stabæk Fotball , for which he played two and a half seasons in the Tippeligaen . In 1998 he won the Norwegian National Cup with the club . In summer 1999 he moved to Belgium for KRC Genk , but returned to Sweden to Helsingborgs IF in September 2000 . With the reigning champions, he competed alongside Rade Prica , Roland Nilsson , Jozo Matovac and Hans Eklund in the 2000/01 Champions League , but failed in the group stage at Bayern Munich , Paris Saint-Germain and Rosenborg Trondheim . Although he was runner-up with the club at the end of the season, Master Halmstads BK was six points ahead. Subsequently, the team could not build on the success and had to be content with places in the middle of the table. In 2005 he returned to the now second-rate Stabæk Fotball, who had signed Jan Jönsson, a Swedish coach. After returning to the Tippeligaen, he played one more season in Norway before returning to Helsingborg and ending his career at the lower-class clubs Högaborgs BK and Torekovs IK .

Head of Sports at Helsingborgs IF

In 2008 Jansson took over the position of sports director at Helsingborgs IF. After the engagement of Conny Karlsson as the new trainer before the 2010 season , the team was runner-up and won the Swedish national cup . In the following season, the club dominated Swedish football, in which in addition to winning the championship by defending the title in the cup and winning the Supercup, the national triple was achieved.
