Jozo Matovac

Jozo Matovac (born May 22, 1970 ) is a former Swedish national soccer player .

Career

Matovac started his career at Gunnilse IS . In 1991 he moved to the second division club BK Häcken , with whom he was fourth in 1992 in the Kvalsvenskan and thus rose to the Allsvenskan . In the 1993 season he finished sixth with the team, the best result in the club's history. In the following season the team was only bottom of the table and Matovac he moved to the first division promoted Örgryte IS . After mainly places in midfield were occupied and the team was only able to earn relegation games against Umeå FC in 1998 , Matovac changed the club again.

Matovac left Sweden and signed with the Danish first division club Aalborg BK . He was able to win two titles straight away: the Danish championship and the country's Supercup. In 2000, however, he returned to Helsingborgs IF in his home country . Since the club had become national champion last year, it played in the Champions League . After the 2002 season, he ended his active career.

Matovac made his debut on February 9, 1997 for the Swedish national team . In the 2-0 win over the Romanian selection in the King's Cup , he also scored his only international goal with the goal. By 1998 he made four international matches and waited until 2001 before playing his way back to the national team. He was then used five times in the national selection.
