Martin Olof Lorentzson (born July 21, 1984 in Östertälje ) is a Swedish football player . The defensive player, who played in over 200 league games in Swedish professional football, made his debut for the Swedish national team in 2013 .

Career

Lorentzson learned to play football at Östertelge BoIS . He later played for IK Sleipner , for whom he played as a full-back in the fourth division Division 2 . In February 2007 he joined the third division team Assyriska Föreningen , with whom he signed a three-year contract. With the club he rose from Division 1 to the Superettan at the end of the year . At the side of Göran Marklund , Filip Bergman , Eddie Moussa and Andi Toompuu , he was one of the regulars with whom he missed the relegation place at the end of the season as fourth in the table with two points behind IF Brommapojkarna and thus a possible march into the Allsvenskan . The following year, the team placed on the relegation place and competed against the first division club Djurgårdens IF . After Dennis Östlundh and Göran Marklund had shot the club from Södertälje to a 2-0 home win in the first leg, Jan Tauer and Christer Youssef equalized the first leg result and Lorentzson's team had to score a 3-0 defeat in extra time a few minutes before the final whistle through Mattias Jonson .

Lorentzson nevertheless went to the Allsvenskan, already in the summer of 2009, six months before his contract with Assyriska expired, he had agreed a contract valid from January 2010 with the future double winner AIK . During the 2010 season he fluctuated between bench and starting line-up and offered similar inconsistent performances as the club in relegation battle, which with master coach Mikael Stahre , Björn Wesström and Alex Miller wore off three coaches over the course of the season. In addition, from mid-October until the end of the season he was unable to play due to an injury. In the following season he was an undisputed regular player under the new trainer Andreas Alm , and at the end of August the club extended their contracts with him as well as Niklas Backman and Nicklas Maripuu . Ultimately, he was one of the guarantors that the club established itself in the top third of the table in the following years. This was also rewarded by national coach Erik Hamrén , who nominated him for the King's Cup in Thailand in January 2013 . He made his debut in the national jersey in the 3-0 final win against Finland . Lorentzson remained a regular in his club afterwards. At the end of the 2013 season he was runner-up with the team behind Malmö FF , and in the following season she was in the championship race over long distances. Shortly before the end of the season in October 2014, AIK announced that it would not extend the expiring contract with the then 30-year-old defensive player.

In February 2015 Lorentzson signed a contract with league rivals Åtvidabergs FF, which was valid until the summer of that year . Here he quickly became a regular player. On July 1, 2015, the club extended the contract term until the end of the season. At the end of the month, however, he used a contractual option that enabled him to dissolve the agreement.

After a few months without a club, Lorentzson signed a contract with the English club Coventry City that was valid until the summer of 2016 in December 2015 . In the third-rate Football League One , he made his debut in late January in the 1: 2 defeat by Scunthorpe United in English professional football, but did not get beyond the role of a supplementary player. He played only seven games of the season by the end of the season, as eighth of the table, the club missed the promotion play-offs to the Premier League by five points . After he was without a club for a short time after his contract expired, the Swedish first division club Örebro SK signed him in early August at the beginning of the summer change period . At his new club he signed a one and a half year contract.
