Björn Wesström (born September 11, 1972 in Upplands Väsby ) is a Swedish football coach and official.

Career

Wesström worked as a talent scout for AIK . After the previous youth coach, Mikael Stahre, who was primarily responsible for being promoted to head coach of the reserve team or assistant coach of the senior team, Wesström inherited him in this position. Since the two worked closely together, Stahre steered Wesström in 2007 as his assistant coach to Väsby United . In the northern relay of Division 1 , the coaching duo reached a promotion position with the previous year’s relegated team as second in the table behind Assyriska Föreningen . In the following season, the team managed to stay ninth in the table in the Superettan .

Wesström and Stahre returned to AIK in November 2008. While Stahre took over the coaching position in the Allsvenskan , the club appointed Wesström as head of sport. At the end of the 2009 season , the club achieved the double of the Swedish championship and national cup victory . After a failed start to the season with a win from eight games in the subsequent season, Stahre took an offer from the Greek club Panionios Athens on April 26, 2010 . Wesström then took over as the club's coach. After two months as an interim coach, he handed over the coaching position to the Scotsman Alex Miller at the end of June 2010 . He then gave up his head of sport in favor of the role of assistant coach.

After Miller resigned at the end of the season, the club was looking for a new coach. After the announcement of the promotion of the former assistant coach Andreas Alm to the new head coach, Wesström returned to the club's scouting department as responsible. In May 2013 Wesström was again head of sport at AIK.
