Season course

On the seventh match day, SSC Napoli had to give up the championship lead with a 0-1 win against Juventus Turin to AC Milan. Juventus was henceforth the first pursuer. Milan only secured the title on the penultimate matchday.

For the newcomers Hellas Verona , US Cremonese and Ascoli Calcio and AS Bari , the relegation battle began early. All four teams were already on the relegation ranks after three match days. In the course of the season, no team was able to place better than 13th place and had to start the series B at the end of the season .
