Francesco Baiano (born February 24, 1968 in Naples ) is a former Italian football player .

He was a striker who, at the height of his career, particularly liked his excellent shooting technique.

Career

Baiano started his career in 1985 in his hometown with SSC Napoli . In the first years of his professional career, he changed clubs frequently. He also played for Empoli , Parma , Avellino and Foggia before joining Fiorentina in 1992 . He played in Florence until 1997 and was part of one of the best attacking formations in the Italian league at the time (with Gabriel Batistuta ). By winning the Coppa Italia and the Supercoppa Italiana under Claudio Ranieri , he also achieved the greatest successes of his career there. Overall, Francesco Baiano completed 108 games for the Fiorentina in five seasons and scored 25 goals. In 1997 he went to the English club Derby County , but returned to Italy in the 1999/2000 season. There he no longer played first class, but with Ternana , Pistoiese and Sangiovannese in leagues B to C1 , currently in the 2007/2008 season with Sangiovannese in series C1 .

In the Italian national team, Baiano made two appearances in 1991 and remained goalless.
