The Serie A 1978/79 was the 47th season in the top Italian football -Spielklasse of Lords. It began on October 1, 1978 and ended on May 13, 1979. As a promoted Ascoli Calcio , FC Catanzaro and US Avellino from Serie B were added.
The season as champions ended the AC Milan and thus succeeded Juventus Turin. Milan managed to qualify for the European Cup . AC Perugia , Inter Milan , FC Turin and SSC Napoli qualified for the UEFA Cup . Juventus Turin secured participation in the European Cup Winners' Cup of the following year through Coppa Italia . Relegated to Serie B had Lanerossi Vicenza , Atalanta and Hellas Verona .
