The Serie A 1987/88 was the 56th season in the top Italian football -Spielklasse of Lords. It began on September 13, 1987 and ended on May 15, 1988. As promoters, Pescara Calcio , Pisa SC and AC Cesena from Serie B were added.

The season as champions ended with AC Milan and became the successor to SSC Napoli . Milan managed to qualify for the European Cup . For the UEFA Cup , Napoli, AS Roma and Inter Milan , Juventus Turin and Torino Calcio played a fourth UEFA Cup participant, with Juventus winning 4-2 on penalties after the end of regular time and overtime was 0-0. Via Coppa Italia , Sampdoria Genua secured participation in the European Cup Winners' Cup of the following year. Relegated to Serie B had US Avellino and FC Empoli .
