Turbinicarpus rioverdensis is a species of plant in the genus Turbinicarpus from the cactus family(Cactaceae).

description

Turbinicarpus rioverdensis grows singly with light green, depressed spherical bodies and has fiber roots. The bodies reach heights of growth of up to 1.5 centimeters and a diameter of 3.5 centimeters. Their humps are rhomboid. There is no central spine . The 1 to 3 grayish radial spines are twisted and up to 12 millimeters long.

The white flowers have a length of up to 2.5 centimeters. The green, round fruits are up to 7 millimeters long and reach a diameter of 5 millimeters.

Systematics, distribution and endangerment

Turbinicarpus rioverdensis is distributed in the Mexican state of San Luis Potosí .

It was first described in 1992 by Gerhart Frank . Synonyms are Pediocactus rioverdensis (Gerhart Frank) Halda and Turbinicarpus schmiedickeanus subsp. rioverdensis (Gerhart Frank) Lüthy . The species is not well known.

Turbinicarpus rioverdensis is listed in Appendix I of the Washington Convention on Endangered Species .
