Domenico "Mimmo" Caso (born May 9, 1954 in Eboli ) is a former Italian football player and today's coach . In the meantime, Caso also worked as a TV commentator .
Career
As a player
society
Caso began his career at Fiorentina and made his professional debut under Nils Liedholm at the age of 18 on October 29, 1972 in the league game against FC Turin , which ended 0-0. In his first season he played twelve games and scored four goals. In the following season he played 19 games and scored four goals again, as in the previous season. In the 1974/75 season Caso won his first title with the Coppa Italia . After three more seasons in Florence, he moved to SSC Napoli in 1978 , for which he played 15 games. In 1979 he went to Inter Milan and was here in the 1979/80 season under Eugenio Bersellini Italian champions. Caso then played for AC Perugia , Torino Calcio, Lazio Rome , US Latina and AS Orceana Calcio, where he was temporarily captain at Lazio Rome. In 1990 Caso ended his active career.
National team
Caso played once for the Italian national team, his appearance on September 28, 1974 against Yugoslavia under coach Fulvio Bernardini was his first and last game for the Squadra Azzurra , Italy lost the game with 0: 1.
As a trainer
In 1990 Caso began his coaching career with the youth team from Fiorentina, then in 1991 he became the coach of the highest youth level Primavera and won the Torneo di Viareggio competition with this in 1992 . In 1992 he became the coach of the Primavera of Lazio Rome and trained players like Alessandro Nesta , Marco Di Vaio and Flavio Roma , who would later have a successful career. With the second team from Lazio he was champion in 1994/95. Caso had already developed a good reputation as a talent scout and promoter, so he was hired by US Foggia in 1997 as head coach of the professional team that was playing in Serie B at the time. However, he had no success and was sacked in 1998 and moved to Chievo Verona in the 1998/99 season , but here he could not meet expectations and was sacked after 14 games. In 2001 Domenico Caso trained the US Pistoiese , but could not deliver good results here either and was given a leave of absence in the same year. From 2002 to 2003 he coached the Italian U-18 team , in 2003 he was again coach of the Primavera of Lazio Rome and briefly also the professional team. Caso then coached other clubs in Italy with moderate success, most recently he was the coach of the Primavera of Reggina Calcio in 2013.
