Massimo Donati (born March 26, 1981 in Sedegliano ) is an Italian football player . He's playing in the midfielder position .

Career

Massimo Donati started his career at Atalanta Bergamo, known as a talent factory . Here he was used regularly and impressed with solid performance, which is why AC Milan signed him for the 2001/02 season. In Milan, however, Donati could not prevail, which is why he moved to Torino Calcio at the end of the season . But in the winter break of this season he moved to AC Parma after only half a season in Turin , but Donati was not able to assert himself here either. For the 2003/04 season Sampdoria Genoa secured the services of the midfielder, but after just one season again he moved to the end of the season for the Sicilian club FC Messina , where he was able to earn a regular place. For the 2006/07 season Donati returned to his home club, Atalanta Bergamo, which started as a promoted team in the Serie A championship.

Donati played for Celtic Glasgow from July 2007 to August 2009 . He scored three goals in 31 league games for Celtic. On August 28, 2009 it was announced that Massimo Donati was moving back to Italy. He signed a four-year contract with Serie A promoted AS Bari , and moved early to US Palermo during the winter break of the 2012/13 season .

For the 2013/14 season Donati moved to the newly promoted Hellas Verona . After just one year, he moved to the Italian second division club FC Bari 1908 , for whom he had appeared 58 times in Serie B by 2016. In July 2016 Donati moved to Scotland and joined Hamilton Academical . After a year and a half, in January 2018 Donati ended his career. In February 2018 he made his comeback again and signed with FC St. Mirren .
