Coppa Italia 2012/13

The Coppa Italia 2013/14 was the 67th edition of the most important Italian soccer cup competition. It started on August 3, 2013 with the 1st round and ended on May 3, 2014 with the final between Fiorentina and SSC Napoli in the Stadio Olimpico in Rome . With a 3-1 victory, SSC Napoli secured their fifth title. As the defending champion, Lazio started the competition and lost in the quarter-finals to the eventual cup winners from Naples.

The winner of the season is directly qualified for the group stage of the Europa League 2014/15 and the Italian Supercup 2014 . With third place in the league , Naples secured participation in the play-offs of the 2014/15 UEFA Champions League , so the fourth-placed, namely Fiorentina, received the starting place in the group stage of the Europa League.

A total of 78 Italian football clubs take part in the tournament. These are distributed among the individual leagues as follows:

Tournament mode

  • In the first round, all clubs in the Lega Pro Prima Divisione , Lega Pro Seconda Divisione and Serie D compete against each other. The 18 best clubs in the Lega Pro Prima Divisione are set as their home team.
  • In the 2nd round, all Serie B clubs and the winners of the 1st round compete against each other. The 20 best clubs in Serie B are set as the home team.
  • In the 3rd round, the twelve worst clubs in Serie A and the winners of the 2nd round compete against each other. The twelve clubs in Serie A are set as the home team.
  • In the 4th round all winners of the 3rd round compete against each other. The winners of the eight pairings with the eight best clubs in Serie A so far are set as the home team.
  • In the round of 16, the eight best Serie A clubs and the winners of the 4th round compete against each other. The eight best clubs in Serie A are set as the home team.
  • In the quarter-finals, all winners of the last sixteen compete against each other.
  • In the semifinals all winners of the quarterfinals compete against each other. This is the only round in which there are home and away legs. In these, the away goal rule applies .
  • In the final, the two winners of the semi-finals compete against each other. This takes place in the Stadio Olimpico .
