Alessandro Matri (born August 19, 1984 in Sant'Angelo Lodigiano ) is an Italian football player . The striker was most recently under contract with US Sassuolo .
Career
In the club
Alessandro Matri began his career in the youth department of AC Milan , for whom he made his Serie A debut under coach Carlo Ancelotti on May 24, 2003 in the 2-4 defeat by Piacenza Calcio . From 2004 to 2006 the attacker played on loan for AC Prato and AC Lumezzane in Serie C1 . 2006/07 Matri was at Rimini Calcio in the Serie B awarded. He was a regular player at all three clubs.
In the summer of 2007, Matri moved to Cagliari Calcio . In the 2009/10 season he was successful with 13 goals in 38 games. In the 2010/11 season Matri started with eleven goals in 22 games. In January 2011, he moved on loan to the record champions Juventus Turin , who were looking for a replacement for the injured Fabio Quagliarella and Vincenzo Iaquinta . At Juventus, Matri became a regular straight away. In the remaining 16 games of the season, he scored nine goals, which is why the Turin in June 2011 used a purchase option and signed him permanently. With Juventus he was Italian champion twice.
Matri played the 2013/14 season with his youth club AC Milan. This awarded him to AC Florence and for the first half of the 2014/15 season to CFC Genoa . There he scored seven goals in 16 league games and prepared another five. In January 2015 he suffered a calf injury; Nevertheless, Juventus loaned him for the second half of the season.
In the national team
Matri was appointed to the squad of the Italian national team for the first time in February 2011 for the friendly against Germany . He made his debut on March 29, 2011 under Cesare Prandelli in the European Championship qualifier against Ukraine in Kiev . The striker came on for Giuseppe Rossi in the 62nd minute and scored the goal in the 80th minute to make it 2-0. By February 2012, Matri was used in four other international matches, but was no longer considered after that. In November 2014, Matri made his comeback in the national team under Antonio Conte when he was substituted on in the friendly against Albania .
