Teramo Calcio played so far never first- or second-rate, and is currently in the fourth division Serie D to find.

history

Today's Società Sportiva Teramo Calcio was founded on July 15, 1913 under the name Associazione Sportiva Teramo . Initially, the newly founded club did not take part in the game of Italian amateur football at the time. It was not until 1929 that the club's management decided to put together a league team, and from then on the club played in the Terza Divisione, the fifth-highest league at the time, and there in the regional championship of Marche - Abruzzo . In the following years before the Second World War , AS Teramo played primarily in the Seconda Divisione, at that time the fourth highest division. In 1935 the name was changed to Associazione Polisportiva Interamnia , just four years later it became Società Sportiva Interamnia . In 1939/40 and 1940/41 the team spent two seasons for the first time in Serie C , the third highest division. In 1944 the club name changed to Società Calcistica Interamnia , a year later in Libertas Teramo and in 1946 in Società Sportiva Teramo . In 1948 the association became the Associazione Sportiva Teramo , seven years later the Società Sportiva Teramo , and another two years later they returned to the previous name. In 1968 the club was renamed Unione Sportiva Teramo , which in 1973 became Teramo Calcio . For the time being, this meant the last name change for the club from Teramo , a city with nowadays around 54,000 inhabitants in the province of the same name in the Abruzzo region. It was not until 2008 that the club name changed again, this time to Società Sportiva Dilettantistica Real Teramo . One year later it became Società Sportiva Dilettantistica Teramo Calcio , and in 2012 the current name Società Sportiva Teramo Calcio was introduced.

In terms of sport, the club from Teramo started after the end of the Second World War in Serie C, where they played until 1948, but then disappeared into the insignificance of regional football in Abruzzo. 1959 succeeded the return to the third division, where one could not hold however. After three years in the fourth-class Serie D , they rose again to regional football in 1963, but managed to return to Serie D two years later. In the following years, this pendulum continued between fourth and fifth division. After the end of the D series in 1973/74, Teramo Calcio managed to return to the C series, where they were able to establish themselves at the third class level until 1980. 1980 Teramo rose from Serie C1 to Serie C2 from six years later the home side's resurgence. Another two years later, Teramo Calcio rose again in 1988 in the C2 series. After the 90s were similar, Teramo Calcio got increasingly financial problems in the new millennium. After playing in third rate until 2007 and relegated that same year, the direct re-emergence failed in the 2007/08 series C2 and Teramo Calcio became insolvent and subsequently dissolved. The association was re-established and started again in the Promozione Abruzzo. From there they gradually worked their way up and are currently back in third class in the Lega Pro .

The Lega Pro 2014/15 ended Teramo Calcio in first place of the Girone B with a lead of four points over Ascoli Picchio FC 1898 . This would actually have entitled the club to its first promotion to Serie B. However, it has been proven that the game Teramos on the penultimate matchday against Savona 1907 FBC (final score: 2-0) was manipulated to ensure the thus established promotion of Teramo Calcio. The club was subsequently transferred to Serie D, while Ascoli was promoted to the second division. This decision was revoked, however, so that Teramo starts again in the Lega Pro in the 2015/16 season , but with six points deducted from the start of the season.
