Simone Pepe (born August 30, 1983 in Albano Laziale ) is a former Italian football player .

Career

In the club

AS Roma

Pepe began his career at AS Roma , who initially loaned him to Calcio Lecco .

US Palermo

In summer 2003, the attacker moved to Palermo in Serie B . In the 2004/05 season Pepe was loaned to Piacenza Calcio . In 2005 he returned to Palermo to compensate for Luca Toni's departure to Fiorentina .

Udinese Calcio

From 2006 to 2011 Simone Pepe was under contract in Serie A at Udinese Calcio .

Juventus Turin

In June 2010, Pepe moved to the Italian record champions Juventus Turin on loan . The Turin residents also had a purchase option of 7.5 million euros, which they exercised on June 22, 2011. Pepe then signed a four-year contract with Juve .

In July 2012 it became known that Pepe had to answer to the court because he had not reported to the association about match-fixing which he was supposed to have known and in which Salvatore Masiello , his former team-mate from his time at Piacenza and Udinese, was involved should. On August 10, 2012, Pepe was acquitted because the statements of the soccer player Andrea Masiello , who had accused Pepe and his teammate Leonardo Bonucci of complicity, were considered inconsistent.

In the 2015/16 season , Pepe played for Chievo Verona .

Delfino Pescara 1936

The following season he was under contract with Delfino Pescara in 1936 . After his contract expired in the summer of 2017, Pepe ended his career.

In the national team

On October 5, 2008 Pepe was nominated by national coach Marcello Lippi for the World Cup qualifiers of the Italian national team against Bulgaria and Montenegro . His first international match was on October 11, 2008 in a 0-0 draw against Bulgaria .

In 2010 he was nominated by Lippi in the Italian squad for the World Cup in South Africa . Pepe played all three games, but retired with the Azzurri in the preliminary round as the bottom of the group.

His last international match was against Uruguay on November 15, 2011 .
