Andrea Masiello (born February 5, 1986 in Viareggio ) is an Italian football player .
Career
society
Andrea Masiello started his career at AS Lucchese Libertas until he moved to Juventus Turin in 2003. He made his debut on April 20, 2005 in a 1-0 home defeat by Inter Milan . In 2005 he was awarded together with Viktor Igorewitsch Budjanski to Avellino Calcio , where he completed a total of 41 games, but could not prevent relegation.
Since Juventus Turin was involved in the Italian football scandal in 2006 , Juve had to be relegated to Serie B and the squad was then restructured. Therefore Masiello, Daniele Gastaldello , Abdoulay Konko , Giovanni Bartolucci and Douglas Ricardo Packer were sold to AC Siena .
After he and Abdoulay Konko did not play a single game for AC Siena until the winter break of 2006/07, Juve sold 50 percent of the transfer rights to CFC Genoa . Then both players and Domenico Criscito were sold to CFC Genoa. He played 15 times with his teammates. Genoa decided to tie Masiello and Konko to the club longer, but he only made four games until he was loaned to AS Bari in 2008 .
After the loan period ended, those responsible at AS Bari Masiello offered a contract, which he accepted. Since then he has become an important part of the team.
After three years, 110 Serie A games and three goals for Bari, he moved to Atalanta Bergamo for the 2011/12 season .
In the wake of the Italian soccer betting scandal, Masiello was arrested by the Bari public prosecutor on April 2, 2012 on suspicion of betting manipulation and the formation of a criminal organization. Masiello then admitted to having deliberately scored an own goal to make it 2-0 on May 15, 2011 as defender of AS Bari in the game against US Lecce. For this, he and two accomplices would have received around 250,000 euros in cash. On August 3, 2012, Masiello was therefore banned for 26 months.
National team
Masiello played in the Italian U-18 , U-19 and U-20 national teams . In total, he completed 21 international matches for all youth national teams.
