Antonio Barreca (born March 18, 1995 in Turin ) is an Italian football player . He is under contract with AS Monaco .
Career
In the club
Barreca was born in Turin to a Sicilian family. In the youth of FC Turin he learned to play football. In the 2014/14 season he was part of the club's U-19 team. With this he reached the final of the Campionato Primavera , the top division for junior teams in Italian football. However, the final was lost against Chievo Verona on penalties. Due to injuries to some players in the first team, he was called up in the season by the then Turin coach, Gian Piero Ventura , in the professional squad. In his first season as a professional, he was loaned to the second division AS Cittadella in 2014 and was used in the third round match of Coppa Italia against Sassuolo Calcio . The game was lost 4-1. The first competitive goal for the club was in the second division match against FC Carpi , it ended 5-2 for Carpi. In 2015 he was loaned to Cagliari Calcio. Due to a buyback clause, Torino FC had the opportunity to sign him after the loan. On the 8th match day of the 2015/2016 season, he played his first competitive game against Novara Calcio . With the team he was at the end of the season champion of series B , an increase in the Serie A on. He then returned to FC Turin and played for the first time on August 13, 2016 in the third round of Coppa Italia against FC Pro Vercelli . The game was won 4-1. The first game in Serie A followed on September 18, 2016 in the home game against FC Empoli , where he came on for the former VfB Stuttgart player , Cristian Molinaro .
In the summer of 2018, Barreca moved to AS Monaco . In January 2019 he was loaned to Newcastle United for half a year . There it was only used once. In the 2019/20 season he was loaned to CFC Genoa .
In the national team
Barreca has so far played for the Italian U-18 national team , for the U-19 selection and the U-20 national team . On August 12, 2015, he made his U-21 debut in a friendly against Hungary . He was also part of the squad for the 2017 U-21 European Football Championship in Poland.
